2. Brochure: 'Credit where credit is due ... do you know someone who deserves a medal?'

Do you know someone who deserves a medal? Almost everyone will answer this question in the affirmative. All over the Netherlands, people are doing their best for many causes. Often without self-interest, in all modesty.
These people are also eligible for a Royal honour, just like everyone else with a special merit for society. But they must be nominated first. You can take care of that. Everyone can nominate someone for a medal. Who and how? Find out in this brochure.

In 1890, the personal union between the Netherlands and Luxembourg ended. The order of the Oak Crown, created in 1841 by King Willem II in his position as Grand Duke of Luxembourg, could then no longer be conferred as a 'Dutch' order. What exactly happened in the intervening period? The authors outline the full picture in this accessible and beautifully made book. A valuable reference work for historians, biographers, iconographs, genealogists and order experts. Sociologists will also enjoy this book.

In the year 1890 the personal union between the Netherlands and Luxembourg came to an end. The Order of the Oak Crown, instituted by King William II in 1841 in his capacity of Grand Duke of Luxembourg, could no longer be awarded as a Netherlands' decoration. But what exactly took place in the intervening years? The writers give a complete picture in this comprehensive, extensively illustrated and beautifully produced book.
